H1B extension - RFE answered

Hi,

H1B extension was filed when I was travelling outside USA and I upgraded to premium processing after I returned to the U.S. Received a query (RFE) and I provided the information requested and when I checked with my company on what the next steps are. I was told "Once the H-1B is approved for consular processing via premium, my company has to file another H-1B case to amend my status since I am now in the U.S."

So my questions are:

1. Do we have consular processing for H1b extensions?

2. What do they mean by amending H1b status?

3.  Will I be able to renew my driver's license after my H1B is approved or does it need to happen after my H1b status is amended?

4. How long does it take to amend H1b status? Can I do premium processing for it too?

My visa is expiring end of next month and would greatly appreciate if someone can answer my questions.
