F2A - priority date vs interview scheduling timeline

My wife's priority date for F2A is April 2 2014. Current Oct 2016 bulletin shows they are processing 22 Dec 2014. With normal date progression I have about 4 months for the date to become current.

What I'm not sure about is:

1. Is the interview scheduled after the priority date becomes current or before the date?

2. When would I receive the interview notification letter from the consulate?

3. Is it normal to get the approval right after the date becomes current or normally interviews are scheduled much after the date becomes current?

Overall, I'm just trying to get an idea of how much time is left before my wife gets the visa. Please advise. Thanks.
