    Background checks

Joe, I applied in April 2016 and finished my biometrics on August 26th, 2016. I am still waiting for interview. I took infopass in December and was told my application is waiting background check. Also, I was told they cannot schedule interview till background check is complete. Since background check is done by FBI, USCIS told me they cannot provide any timeline of how long it can take. In the meantime, my wife applied at same time as me and also finished biometrics on same day. However she finished her interview on December 8th 2016 and already took oath on January 19th 2017.
  3. I had same issue. Me and my wife applied in April 2016. We both completed Biometrics on August 26th, 2016. Then my wife got her Interview date on December 8th, 2016 and took oath on January 19th. However I am still waiting for Interview date. I took infopass appointment and was told my application is pending background ckeck. I was also told that all applications are considered separately, even though husband and wife applied together. Also USCIS has no timeline for completion of background check as it is performed by FBI, so I am just waiting ....
  4. I had received a letter for Fingerprinting for me and my wife on 5/6/2016 and FP date was 5/16/2016. This was with respect to our N-400 applications for Citizenship. Since I was traveling out of country for work from 5/9 - 5/18, I wrote back to USCIS and asked for rescheduling the FP appointment. I have not heard back from USCIS about rescheduled FP date yet. Can someone please tell me if this is normal? - Thanks.
  5. Please use a Private Jet. No hassles.
  6. I don't think dates will move atleast for next 3 to 4 months. So just stop worrying and continue to enjoy your life.
  7. Raj, I have done this in the past several times without any issues. My wife was using EAD/AP and I was on H1B at that time. No issues.
  8. GlenLIVEit, I think it is simple to understand why USCIS has to retrogress the date. When USCIS moved date by almost 3 years so fast (in last 1 year), people who had not filed during July fiasco and also people who switched from EB3 to EB1 started filing. Applicants who switched from EB3 to EB1 had priority dates from 2003 thru 2009 and hence due to huge influx of applications, USCIS now has to retrogress the dates. I think at this time USCIS does not have a good judgement of how many more applications switching from EB3 to EB2 will apply, so they will move the dates to 2007. Then there will be cautious movement forward after November 2012 Visa bulletin. Hope this helps clarify.
  9. Anyone else has any input? I remember reading somewhere that "passport should be valid at least 6 months at the time of entry" rule applies to H1B and other visa holders. However if you have a valid greencard, passport is not even checked at time of re-entry on US. Is this true. I don't plan to renew passport in US before my travel to india, so just wanted to get more inputs.
  10. I am travelling to India on 4th Feb 2011 and returning on 15th March 2011. I have a Green Card for reentry to US. However, my passport will expire on May 20, 2011. Will I have any issues re-entering US, OR do I need to renew my passport?

    EB2-I movement in future months

This statement from you is just ridiculous "I think EB2 should be stopped and let EB3 move further... ". You know that there is a reason that people have qualified in EB2... Because they are more qualified than you. Think about it before making such statements. I pity you and I don't believe you will get GC in near future because of your negative attitude.

Reason for EB3 movement in Sept bulletin

Why do people always ask EB2? In my opinion, EB2 should be made "Unavailable" and give some relief to EB3. Let it move until 2007. pernalguy, Stop being so negative all the time. I see all your posts and you are always complaining how it is so unfair for EB3. There is a reason there are different categories like EB1, EB2 and EB3 and the preference given to every category. People applying in the categories did not make the rules. So stop your wining and see if you can get qualified in EB2. Or just wait for your turn.

    I-485 Denied

*** We had applied through my wife's employer in 2006. She was the primary and I was the beneficiary. I-485s were filed in Schedule A category and which later became EB3. *** Since she never joined the company who filed, we later filed through my employer with me as primary and my wife as beneficiary. I-485s were filed in EB2. *** Last week we (both me and my wife) received green cards through my employer as EB2 dates were current. *** Yesterday I got email from USCIS that the I-485 filed through my wife's employer in EB3 was Denied and a notice was mailed. I would assume that they did it just because she has already received GC through my employer. Is this normal? Gurus ... Please advise.

July Bulletin: Lets track EB2 Approvals

Received card in mail today. Still waiting for card for my wife. Thank you everyone in this forum for all the support.
  15. Gurus, My priority date for EB2-I is Dec28, 2006 and is current in July Bulletin. So I called USCIS on 7/5 and raised a Service Request. I also raised a service request and updated my address. I got following email from USCIS this afternoon: "The status of this service request is: Recently, you called us to update your address. Your current address is the same address in our system. If you change your address again in the future, please contact customer service at the number provided below. USCIS records show your case has been approved. Your Permanent Resident card is currently in document production. If you have not received your card within 30 days, you will need to call our customer service at the number listed below to see if it has been returned as undeliverable or what other options are available to you." However when I called USCIS Level 2 rep this afternoon, she told me case status is still showing Initial review. Also I checked online and it is showing Initial review. Do you think I am approved based on the email I received? Thanks, Swaps
