H1/H4 Transfer and Travel; Form i-539

Thanks @SPV and @pontevecchio for your responses!
  2. My H1-B with current company expires July'19 (Approval Notice only; Not Stamped) and haven't filed an Extension yet. But got an offer from Company A and transfer is in progress (Applied in Premium). I have to travel to India in June (roughly 3/4 weeks after joining Company A) and get Stamped. I have the following questions: a) Is it recommended to travel? and what are the precautions to be taken care with respect to Stamping? The new company has a 15 day pay cycle and I will get pay stubs and other official documents from them before I travel. b) As per the new process for H-4, I-539 form for dependent is also filed as part of the Premium Petition. Will there be any issues on travelling for my wife? Don't know the details of Appearance for Interview and what-if her transfer goes pending. Can she travel as she has a stamped visa? c) If all goes well and travel, my wife has visa stamped till July'19. Does she need to go Interview as she will have less a week left in her stamped before we are back to US. Need your advice! Thanks in Advance!
  3. No she wasn't working. Thanks for your responses! So do you recommend applying for ITIN if the process for resolution takes longer? or Can I go ahead and file the taxes with her SSN?
  4. Hello, My wife received her SSN when she was on L-2 and had been using for quite long time. So I mainly use for Tax filing purpose & Applying for DL. Now currently she's in H-4 . When her passport expired, I renewed it with her name changed after marriage. got her passport renewed with the new name and even Visa stamped on it. To change her name in DL, I wanted to change her name in SSN as well. When I went to the local SSA office with the name change application & proof etc., the SSN officer says she can't have the SSN as her visa status does not apply and took back her card. We got a letter for denial of SSN which he said can be used for Driver's License. I couldn't find any post on the internet related to this incident. I heard SSN is for Life. Now I 'm going to apply for ITIN this year. My question here is Is that normal or procedure to take back the card when we came for name change ? Can I get it back and what are my options?
