  1. Hello all, I just wanted to share my experience regarding my successful J1 waiver transfer. My spouse (US citizen) who is also a physician was completing a specialty fellowship. I was unable to secure a J1 waiver in her state so I applied and found a job elsewhere. We stayed apart for 1 year. Once my spouse completed her training, our plan was for her to find a job near me. However, 6 months before she completed fellowship - her dad a stroke and needed more help. Due to this, my wife decided to move close to her parents after completing her fellowship. Since the area where her parents lived was rural, my wife was unable to secure a job. I was her main source of income. Due to these changes, I looked for a job near her parents and applied for a transfer. We submitted proof of her dad's medical condition, my wife's unfruitful job search and proof that I was the only source of income to support my wife and her extended family. We also submitted a letter from my wife's psychiatrist as she was experiencing significant mental stress and anxiety from all of this. Our transfer was approved within a few days. We spoke to several lawyers - a lot of them advised to not apply for transfer but my wife really needed me with her given her dad's condition. We took the chance and we were successful. I just wanted to relay my story for any one else who is experiencing similar problems.

    J1 waiver transfer

Hello everyone! I have been working with my employer doing a J1 waiver for close to 15 months. Now my primary site on the contract is being shut down for renovation and will not reopen for at least one year. There is a secondary site on my contract but I only work there two times a week. My employer is now making me work at other locations that are NOT listed in my contract and are NOT on my H1b petition for 3 days/week. Would these be grounds for applying for a J1 waiver transfer if I find a new job? Thanks for your help!

    H1B stamping PIMS issue

Just an update. My petition was approved on October 12th. I attended my H1b interview on October 23rd (exactly 11 days after petition approval). Visa was approved and I got my passport back in 5 business days. So I guess PIMS is usually updated within a week to 10 days of petition approval.
  6. Hi just an update. I attended my interview at a different consulate than the one mentioned on my I-797. I had no issues and I got my passport back within 5 business days.

  8. Hi Bhumi! I am in a similar situation as you. My I-797 mentions one consulate but I would like to attend in a different consulate. Did you have any issues in Ottawa? Did you file I-824? Thanks so much!

    H1B stamping PIMS issue

I am in a similar situation. I have received my h1b petition yesterday. I am currently out of US. My lawyers will send me the paperwork immediately once they receive it. I will be going for a consular appointment as soon as I receive my h1b paperwork (I129). I really do not want any delays in visa processing at the consulate. How long does it take for my visa petition to be updated on PIMS after H1b approval? Thank you!

    E approval of H1b

Hi I am in a similar situation! Can you let me know if you had any issues with your visa interview? Was your PIMS updated on time? Thanks a lot!
  15. hi guys! Just to update you. My application was redirected to vermont from nebraska (since mine is a new H1b cap exempt case). Although employer initially filed on Sept 12th, they did not forward to vermont until Sept 28th. I finally got a receipt on Sept 29th from vermont Center and the case was approved within 13 days. If you do not get a receipt within a few days, please speak to your lawyers to ensure that the case is filed at the right location to avoid unnecessary delays. Edit
