  1. H1B amendment was filed for the client after I joined the new client (within one and half month). Thus, client start date (as indicated on my client letter) would have an earlier start date than H1B petition receipt date. Has anyone faced any issues in such cases during visa interview? It would depend on visa officer and he could question it, but anyone in the same situation who faced or did not face any issue during visa interview - could you please share your advice/ experience. Thanks!
  2. Hello All, I am going for visa stamping with a new employer. I had to leave previous employer stating personal leave and couldn't join them back. I see that the petition is still active. Can they ask in visa interview about previous petition being active? Reply would be greatly appreciated.
  3. If anyone is looking for shared accommodation (females) - could you PM me and we can connect. Thanks!
  4. Hello All, I wanted to check appointment availability for Consulates in Canada. I had gotten my visa three years ago and at that time I was able to check appointments available at various consulates. Could you please direct me to the website where I can see appointment availability. Could you detail the visa stamping process as well. I see websites have changed. Do I start with DS 160?

  7. Hello Senior Members, I am currently working as an H1B employee for my employer. My spouse is on H4 visa. Due to change in circumstances (not related to employment, employment is still active), I want to change to H4, thus my spouse is switching to H1. I am planning to file my H1 to H4 COS along with the spouse's H1B premium processing petition (so that my H4 gets approved along with his H1B under premium). I have gone through forums but have not seen such a case where COS is occurring for both - me and my spouse in this case, I want to make sure that there won't be any issues as far as COS is concerned. Thanks
  8. Hi, I am starting this topic to track progress on passport delivery for folks who were interviewed on or around 31st July. Usually, passport pick up email is received within 2-3 days, but because of the "system glitch" not sure about the time period. Please update your status for any updates on passport delivery or other status updates. Thanks
  9. Thanks for your update Surin. My status at https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/Status.aspx? is showing up as Issued, but not sure how time time its going to take from this status to passport delivery.
  10. Hi Kris Have you guys received the passport yet - folks who attended on 21st July. I saw your post stating folks who attended after 21st July in Vancouver - some of them received their passport.

DON'T GO FOR VISA STAMPING NOW

  14. The Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs continues to make progress restoring our nonimmigrant visa system to full functionality. Over the weekend, the Department of State implemented system changes aimed at optimizing performance and addressing the challenges we have faced. We are now testing our system capacity to ensure stability. Processing of immigrant visas cases, including adoptions, remains a high priority. Some Embassies and Consulates may temporarily limit or reschedule nonimmigrant visa interview appointments until more system resources become available to process these new applications. We sincerely regret the inconvenience to travelers, and are committed to resolving the problem as soon as possible. Additional updates will be posted to travel.state.gov as more information becomes available. This is the latest update from travel.gov. Has anyone experienced any reschedules or any sort of communication from the consulate about the same?
  15. Hello everyone, Just wanted to check if there are any visa interview appointment cancellations initiated by the consulate because of the system crash issue. This will apply to folks who currently have visa interview scheduled. Not sure if consulate will cancel future appointments to avoid the backlog. Although state.travel.gov - does mention that we are operational but the issuance will be at a reduced capacity.

  19. Hi, I saw this news pasted below - about Consular system crash on July 19th. I saw some posts on Murthy of applicants who had their visa interview on July 21st in Vancouver. Apparently they were not informed about any such system crash (as their posts did not mention about it). Please does anyone have any further info, specific to Vancouver consulate. Is it affecting all the consulates worldwide. I do see Mumbai consulate has listed out this news in the Non Immigrant visa section of their website. But, I do not see any such news on Canadian Consulate websites. I have my visa interview next week in Vancouver. Please advice. ********************************************************************************************* News - The State Department's global database for issuing travel documents has crashed, resulting in major delays for potentially millions of people around the world waiting for U.S. passports and visas, officials said Wednesday. Unspecified glitches in the department's Consular Consolidated Database have resulted in "significant performance issues, including outages" in the processing of applications for passports, visas and reports of Americans born abroad since Saturday, spokeswoman Marie Harf said. She said the problem is worldwide and not specific to any particular country, citizenship document, or visa category. "We apologize to applicants and recognize this may cause hardship to applicants waiting on visas and passports. We are working to correct the issue as quickly as possible," she said. Harf said the problems with the database have resulted in an "extensive backlog" of applications, which has, in turn, hampered efforts to get the system fully back on line. It was not immediately clear how many people are affected, but two U.S. officials familiar with the situation said some 50,000 applicants were hit in one country alone. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly or identify the country. The database is the State Department's system of record and is used to approve, record and print visas and other documents to ensure that national security checks are conducted on applicants."
  20. You can also check posts from other applicants.
