    Over stayed with out knowledge...

I over stayed for about a year, my passport had expired and I got a new one without realizing that my I-94 expiration was the same as my old passport, dumb mistake of my part I got a blue 221g, it looked more like a security check than anything, but I am not sure, I did mention my overstay in my DS160 pontevecchio, maybe you are right and it has nothing to do, but no one really knows why the issue 221g's anyway... and any alarm can trigger one.

I had a similar issue with an expired I94, the lawyers took care of it, and I got a new I94 when I renewed my H1B BUT! when I left the country and had to get my visa stamped, I got a 221g check, and was stuck in Canada for a month Does that mean this will happen to you? not necessarily, but now you have bigger chance of being stuck on 221g overseas in the future

    Blue 221g TAL check Ottawa

@HLMK, yes, it was in ottawa
  4. I am currently in the US with a recently renewed valid H1-B which is valid for 3 years I recently got married to a US citizen and about to start the I-130 etc. process, If I wait for two years then my green card won't be "conditional" What would be the real gain for waiting? I can afford to wait 2 years before applying since I have a visa for 3 years, but is there any real gain other than not having a conditional green card? (anyway conditional green cards have the same rights) My wife is 10 years older than me, so that could raise suspicion, but we also own a house together, have joint bank accounts, bills, so is very easy to prove we are legit I'll appreciate any comments

221G White Administrative process Since Nov18th

the status update could mean two things: one, they updated it because the congress man inquired, or, the visa is about to be approved, lets hope is the second

    Blue 221g TAL check Ottawa

My Story of successful blue 221g in Ottawa (28 eight days to get email, 31 days to get home) When I came in, the person who received my documents on the intake window asked me “what my status in Canada is” this was my second stamping in Ottawa and before they didn’t ask that, so already a bad sign… Then I went to the fingerprint window, as I was getting fingerprinted the lady in the counter said “oh” looking at the PC, I looked at her and she just said “go on” another sign that something was “flagged” The VO asked me if my company was a pharmaceutical, I said no, I explained my line of work but he really didn’t seem to pay attention or care about my answers, he asked me what my degree and field of study and university, then gave me the blue form and told me to give him my resume and list of publications (which I had with me so I gave it to him) he told me that it could take “several months” and gave me my passport back, it felt like I was hit by a rock The interview was Dec 16 (2013) The first status update was January 9th (for those of you who are not given a tracking number you can use the DS160 number on the CEAC website of state dept., I didn’t know that) On January 14 I got the email to drop off in the embassy and there was another status update On the 15th I dropped the passport off and there was another status update (don’t know which was first), the lady said that she was going to make an exception and allow me to pick it up on the 17th On 16th it showed as “Issued” Picket it up on the 17th and now on my way home. It seems this was a simple TAL check given they asked for my resume list of publications and gave me a blue slip like many people in this forum but there are also other issues that could had flag me, I list them here for people to take note I had a previous I-94 overstay (yes, my stupid stupid mistake) In a trip I made abroad when I came back my passport was about to expire, I got a new passport in USA but failed to notice my I94 expiration was the same as my old passport’s expiration and I failed to get a new one. I had a new I797 and the lawyers had said the problem was solved but you never know if they flagged me because of that. The engineering field that I work with is focused in a very unusual technology, which is hard to explain to not technical people, maybe the bureaucrats at the embassy didn’t understand and just sent it back for checking, at first I tried to keep the explanation simple, but he kept asking me “exactly what, what is this used for” and so on I am married to a US citizen. You might think if you are married to a US citizen why on earth are you renewing your H1B????? They could have thought so too, I just recently got married and wanted to have a valid visa before applying for a status change, which of course turned out to be a stupid stupid mistake because know I had to use all my vacation time and this looked really bad with my employer, luckily it was only one month, I also missed Christmas and new years with my wife Hope this helps other people…. The moral of the story is: IF YOU EVER GET MARRIED TO A US CITIZEN DO NOT DELAY YOUR STATUS CHANGE!!! You might think like me to “not rush it and do things slowly and right” but it comes and bites you back…. Oh and another thing, I am South American, I don’t want to disclose the country but my country’s government is not very US friendly. Don’t think 221g’s only happen to Indians, Chinese or Mulsim countries (like I used to think), it happens to everyone!!!!

what is the ceac webiste everyone keeps mentioning for 221g?

For some reason in my previous post I missed some parts when doing copy-pase the answer is, use the number of the DS 160 you used when you applied for your visa, it took me days to figure out

what is the ceac webiste everyone keeps mentioning for 221g?

Ok, here is the answer to my own question: Of course you can just google CEAC, the problem was that I had no tracking number given to me by the visa officer, so the answer I was getting from google wasn’t giving me any info, I see from older threads that certain consulates in India have some sort of PDF tracking websites which I was looking for in the case of Ottawa The answer is, to use the CEAC website ( https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/%C2'> Hope this helps future victims of 221g! for the record it took me 28 days to get the email from the day of the interview

    H-1B - Additional Administrative Processing

I had a similar situation in ottawa, since dec 16, asked me about my work and requested a CV (not as much detail as yours) I got the blue 221g from other forums Im guessing 30-50 days in ottawa but I am not sure if it is consulate dependant or color dependant, and also my guess is just based on people in ottawa from july to september did you ever hear from them? I havent yet of course
