    Toronoto - Canada - H1B Stamping

There is a higher rate of getting 221(g) admin processing in Toronto. I had all the proper documentation. I still got a 221(g) admin processing, because the consulate officer wanted me to submit details of my project that I did for my Engineering and Masters (Its been over 10 years since I finished my education and I have been working in USA for last 6 years) Weird...but it happens in Toronto. and it took almost a month after submitting the required documentation to get my visa stamped. So if you are planning to go to Toronto, then just be prepared to have an extended stay in Canada. And, read up on ur Engineering and Master's projects.
  2. I went for the Interview at Toronto Consulate on 29th November. My documentation was all proper. I work full time at the employer location. I have been with this employer for more than 5 years and this is my second extension and stamping, with the same employer. The VO asked the following questions : (a) How long have you been with your employer ? (b) Wanted to see my W2s - checked the 2012 W2 © What is your educational background ? (d) What was your thesis and projects about for your Engg and Masters... He was obviously not convinced about my projects, so gave me a 221(g) slip, marking the checkbox related to Education, thesis, resume , publications and source of funding. Ask me to mail the details to the given email id. The next day I got an email from the consulate asking for my resume as well. I sent all the documents, including soft copies of my Engg and Masters projects on 1st December. Finally got my clearance mail on Dec 16th.

    First time H1B visa Stamping

India would be a better option...In case they put you on Admin processing, in India, you will have family and friends around and a place to stay. In Canada, a lot of cases are put thru admin processing, even if you have all the proper documentation. So be prepared to have an extended stay , in case you are still planning for Canada.

    Calling all Toronto 221Gs

Finally got my clearance mail and submitted my passport. Interview Date : November 29th Clearance mail : Dec 16th
  5. Try avoiding Toronto consulate... The rate of 221(g) admin processing is relatively high... I learnt it the hard way.. I had all the documents, I work as a full time employee, work and H1 papers were all perfect..I have been working in US for past 5+ years.. The consular officer wanted details about my Engg and Masters projects ( which were done 10+ yrs ago). So even if you have all the docs, you still might get stuck with Admin processing... One advice...read up on your Engg projects ( and Masters as well, if you have done MS).

    Calling all Toronto 221Gs

I went for visa stamping in Toronto on 29th November. VO asked the following questions : (a) How long have you been working for this employer. (b) Asked to see the tax returns © What is your educational background ? (d) Details of my engineering and masters projects. He told me I needed to submit additional documents; gave me a green 221(g) slip and checked the box regarding submission of documents related to field of study, publications and source of funding. I also received an email asking for my resume. Submitted all the documents and still waiting for any response from them. Has anybody got a response r\in the last 2-3 days ? If yes, how long did the process take ? All the best to everyone who are still waiting and Congrats to all of them who have received the response.
