  1. I am a Full Time Software engineer for a product based company (Employer#2). I was laid off last Friday (July 27) due to cost cutting measures with the same day being my last day at work. Me being on H1B, HR put me on PAID LEAVE OF ABSENCE till 21st September with complete pay and benefits till that date. They also confirmed that they will notify the USCIS about the termination after 21st September. My I-94 is valid till Oct 2020 and my visa is stamped till the same. I have my I-140 approved from my previous employer (Employer#1), which is still active. In this instance, does my 60 day grace period from 22nd September or from last Saturday (July 28)?
  2. Hello, I have my H1B Stamping scheduled in Matamoros, Mexico on 11th and 12th September. If any one is going for stamping on or around those dates, please reach out to me at the email address listed in my profile. Thanks
  3. I moved from client A to client B on 1st Sept 2015. Client A and B are located in the same zip code. As per the new Amendment rules, technically, I do not need an amendment. But to be out of trouble in future, my employer applied for an amendment in last week of August. As of today, the USCIS case status still says that the receipt notice was sent on 28th August. I am planning to travel to my home country in December. As I do not, technically, need an amendment, can I travel with my previous approved H1B copy and new LCA for client B? I already have visa stamping. Or should I jump it to Premium and get the new H1B approval? Thanks for your help.

  5. @waj009, I was never asked any documents from the consulate after my interview. They took my documents during the interview and returned to me in mail along with the stamped passport.
  6. @H1bstam2014, Here is the link for the listing www.airbnb.ca/rooms/4143538 @balahyderabad and @itsmeusa, Thank You for the wishes. Good Luck !
  7. Hi all, First of all, Thank You everyone for your posts/experiences. They helped a lot ! I had my interview for my H1B extension stamping at Ottawa on 6th Oct. I was the first person to be interviewed in the Consulate that day. My DS160 was stamped with "No PIMS". Following is how the interview went. Me: Good Morning Officer VO: Good Morning. (looking at my I797) Who is your employer? Me: ABC VO: Do you have an end client? If yes, do you have a letter from your client? Me: Yes. (And I provided him the client letter) VO: (After reading through it) can you give me your employer letter, I129, LCA, Paystubs? Me: Gave him the requested documentation VO: I am approving your visa but we will need to do some further review in your case. You'll hear back from us in a week or so. (Gave me the 221G form) Me: Is there any other info which I can provide now? VO: No. Thank You Me: Thanks. I went into the Consulate at 7:15AM and out by 7:55AM. My client was contacted by phone on Tuesday afternoon. On Thursday (9th Oct) around 3PM, my status was changed to "Issued". Picked up my passport on Friday morning. One more guy who had the same experience as me on Oct 6th got his passport too on Friday. P.S: Hotels in Ottawa downtown are costly (around 120$ per day). As I drove to Ottawa, I booked my room along with another guy through AirBnB. It cost us, together, $185 for one week. So, in case your commute within Ottawa is flexible, I suggest you to use AirBnB to book your lodging. It saves significant amount of money. Good Luck !

Stamping in Ottawa on 7th October

Hi Sreekanth, I have my interview scheduled at Ottawa on 6th October. Can you reach me on email pls? You can find my email address under "Contact Information" in my profile. Thanks
  12. Hi, My first H1B is set to expire on 30th Sept 2014. I applied for my passport renewal and still am awaiting for my new passport. Once I get my new passport, my employer will apply for H1B extension under PP (which could be in the 1st week of Sept 2014). I am also starting my GC process simultaneously. Meanwhile, as I was going through the documentation needed for the extension process, I noticed a situation. I started working for client A located in Pennsylvania from start of my first H1B (Oct 2011) to Nov 2013. In Nov 2013, I moved to client B in New Jersey till Dec 2013. In Jan 2014, I moved to an internal project for my employer in Michigan and was there until April 2014. In April 2014, I moved to client C, again located in Pennsylvania (which is where I am right now). But during Nov 2013 to Apr 2014, I noticed that my payroll ran for the state of Pennsylvania (residence location) though I was working in New Jersey (Nov 2013 to Dec 2013) and Michigan (Jan 2014 to Apr 2014) (as per place of employment in LCA). Will this create an issue during the H1B extension process (and also Green Card process)? Is there a way to correct this issue? I am on EVC model. I have Client and Vendor Letters, Pay stubs and all the required documentation. There were no gaps in the payroll at any point of time. I also got my first H1B stamped from Canada in Nov 2012. Thanks in advance for your help !

    H1b Waiting for PP

Unfortunately, it is very much possible that the visa officer says that the visa is approved and still it can go through AP. Though it did not happen to me, I have seen couple of friends go through the same experience who had the visa interview with me the same day. For one person, it took 3 weeks before he received his visa and for another, it was rejected. (This is not to scare you, but just stating the facts). Good Luck !
  14. Thank You all for your valuable inputs. Much appreciated :)
  15. Hi, I am planning to go to Canada in October for my H1B extension stamping. My first H1B was also stamped in Canada but I flew the first time. This time, I am planning to drive my own car to Canada. Can anyone pls let me know what are the documents required to pass through the border? Any critical issues or implications? Thanks in advance for your help.
