H1 Renewal support Documents for Drop Box

Hello, I had carried all the documents, including client letter and vendor letter. No harm in carrying it. But they only had asked for photocopy of I797 along with DS-160 and 2 photos. Kind Regards, Hari

H1b extension IWP experience in Delhi

Hello All, I recently got my H1b extension approved through the dropbox process in Delhi. I had already completed 4 years (1 L1b + 3 H1b) and this was a three-year extension based on an approved I140. I am working for the same company, same position and my visa had expired on Sep 30th 2014. I will try and provide as many details as I remember 01/27 - Went to Nehru Place for dropping off my document. I had carried my original I797, confirmation of the dropbox, DS160 confirmation, Axis Bank Fees receipt, a copy each of the mentioned documents and two passport size photos (from Walgreens). There was a small line for the drop off and the staff there were very professional and courteous. They only accepted my passport, copy of I797, dropbox confirmation letter and DS-160 confirmation letter. I double-checked if they needed any more documents, but they insisted that this should be enough. They did not like the photograph taken, so I had to go across the street and get another one taken. (TIP - They are very insistent on the proper photograph. Get one taken in India). I got the dropbox confirmation letter back with stamp and photograph and they said I should get a response in 2-3 working days 01/28 - Checked the status online on the CEAC website using my DS-160 number. In the morning the status was 'Ready'. In the evening, after 4PM, the status said 'Administrative Processing'. I later found out, by trolling a lot of sites, that this usually means some interdepartmental processing, approvals, paperwork etc 1/29 - In the evening, after 4PM, the status was now changed to 'Issued' 1/30 - In the afternoon at 1PM, I recieved an email from UStraveldocs that my passport is now ready for pickup 2/2 - In the noon, I went to pick up my passport. They ask for a copy of id proof with original (I provided PAN card). I picked up my passport in under one minute. My experience with VFS at Delhi has been a pleasant one. They have been very professional and the whole process of dropbox has been smooth and streamlined. I got my visa stamped for three years, per the petition. Kind Regards, Hari

    L-1A to H-1B

    1) Your H1B is only valid after approval. As soon as it's approved, provided its done with Change of Status, your L1A will no longer be valid. You have to start working for the new company. If the approval does not go through, then you can continue on your L1A. 2) No Risk 3) Yes. You can work till your start of H1B visa, which will be Fall 2013

Need clarification on L1 to H1 conversion

Vijay0304 - If your H1b is filed under COS, then u cannot ignore it. Your status changes immediately. If you are on COS and want to ignore it, then you must leave the country asap and re-enter on L1, then ur H1b COS will get cancelled.

Mexico does not allow first time stamping. Maybe Bahamas has that too, not sure. Canada is your best bet.

    Urgent help

Since you already have an approved petition, you might be eligible under cap-exempt. I might be wrong.
