humbled

Hi ... I did something very stupid ... don't know what I was thinking ... I was fooling around with an advertisement online and I decided to call the number. The girl picked up on the other side and asked me what I wanted and I did not know what to say so I said "what every works for you" and then she asked me to come to her hotel ... she even texted me a couple of times ... and I walked into the trap. It was a sting operation. Two police officers came from behind and took me to the room next door. They then charged me with 647(b) pc/prostitution solicitation. They took my driver's license information and looked at my cell phone records, took a couple of pictures of me ... said these were for their own records. I co-operated with the officers because I was nervous and thought that to be the best. They took the money in my wallet too. The officers gave me a court date but said that if I take a class, I don't need to go to court. They called it a diversion class. I was told that if I take the class the case would be dropped and I would get my money back as well. I'm on an H-1B and I will be applying for GC soon. What should I do ? Take the class ? Or hire a criminal lawyer ? How will this affect my immigration status? Also will this show up in background checks for future jobs ? Very nervous and shaken. Not sure what to do ?
