How long before the extension start date can I get my H1b visa stamped?

Hi,

I have an approved i797 and visa stamp till Sep 2016. My H1b extension was filed while I was in Canada so received the approval notice with i797b. I was wondering if it is possible to go for H1b stamping in the next couple of weeks while I am in Canada and avoid having to travel again before September 29. 

 

Is there a stipulation on how early you can go for H1b stamping for an extension if you already have a valid visa.

You should be able to go for stamping if you have your original I797 extension with you. I know people who have gone 3-4 months before their previous visa expired.

You become eligible from 6 months prior to your petition start date.
