I 94 extended @ newark CBP deferred inspection site

I had H1b visa until March,2017 but I-94 was issued till March 2016 ( because of passport expiry date).

 

I visited Newark CBP deferred inspection site and they updated admit until date to march,2017.

 

However passport number is still old, does it matter ?

Please let me know which passport number should be reflected on I-94 after extension. Guys who did this at US-Mexico border , which passport number is mentioned in your I-94 ?

The same issue for me. I went to mexico and they updated I 94 with old passport only

If "yasvini" and "Lakshmnan" are referring to the electronic I-94 on the  CBP website, please note that the website will continue to reflect the old passport. As long as the date on the I-94 date has been extended, you are OK. As a precaution, simply carry both the old and new passports together.
