My H1B was extended when I was in US and now I plan to go to India to get my visa stamped. If I try to set up an appointment through http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/ site, it takes me through a series of questions where it suggests that if my H1B visa expired within the last 12 months and if I am working for the same employer, I am eligible for dropbox facility. That is the case if I apply for visa appointment today. However I am planning to go to India only in the end of March and at that point the statement would not hold true that my passport expired within last 12 months. Does 12 months dependent on the date when I apply for visa appointment or when I actually go for visa appointment? Request your feedback at the earliest. Depending on the same I need to decide if I need to stop by Chennai for visa stamping on my way to my hometown or I can directly go to my hometown and use the drop box facility. Link to comment
