We attended H1B & H4 Renewal Visa stamping interview at Vancouver on 26th Jan 2016 at 10.00am. We were there 30 mins early and they allowed us in. Security and fingerprint scanning took 40 mins and waited for an hour to be taken to 20th floor for interview. Went to the 20th floor and saw only 2 counters were active with the Officers taking interview. After waiting for one more hour our token number has been called.

H1B & H4 – Thank you, Have a Good Day.

VO – You too.

He gave us a green sheet with the courier details and link to check the status of the passport.

He kept with him our passports including the original I797.

The interview at the counter took 10 mins.

We came out of the embassy by 12.45 pm

Checked the given link for status by 1pm. It showed case created and in administrative processing.

27th Jan 2016 10am, it showed issued and the courier label created.

28th Jan 2016 received an email by saying “the passports are ready to pick up”.

We picked up the passports with the original I797 by 29th Jan 2016.

We had all the necessary documents including our marriage certificate and few of our wedding photos. (Which the VO didn’t ask to check at all). But that gave us more confidence to attend the interview.

Please carry all the necessary documents as per your case, be confident and Answer shortly (straight to the point).

Good Luck to all.

Hi Priya,

I will really appreciate if you could please provide me with the answers.

1) What did you tell Canadian immigration authorities while entering canada as to why are you going to vancouver?

I do have a tourist visa but shall I tell them that I am going for H1b stamping or just for tourism.

2) Did US consulate ask you why didn't you go to india instead for stamping? If yes what was your answer.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi,

To book the interview slot in canada, you should keep checking the the website every morning. we did the same for a week and then we got a slot open.

We had canadian visitor visa and at the immigration to enter canada (Vancouver), we said purpose as tourism.

US Consulate didn't ask us " why u r here instead of india?".

Good Luck !!!

Regards

Priya
