Unlimited H1-Bs with an approved i-140 and Employer change

Hi,

I am new to this forum and hoping to get some insights into a question I haven't been able to get any firm answers on so far.

My existing employer A has filed for my GC in EB2 category. I have a priority date of May 2015 subject to my PERM and i-140 approval coming through. My existing H1-B (at the end of the 6 year stretch) expires in early 2017.

I understand that an approved i-140 means my priority date is locked in and allows me unlimited H1-B's while the GC is getting processed.

However, what if I want to switch jobs after my i-140 is approved but after my existing H1-B expires (i.e. early 2017)? If my new employer does now want to take on my GC application right away, can I work with them temporarily on my unlimited H1-Bs (resulting from the approved i-140) and then eventually get the new employer to take on my GC application? Will the same apply if I am looking in a different industry or function as well?

Hope you can shed some light on this question for me.

Thanks in advance for your help!
