Dogfish
Hi folks, Few weeks back, My parents left USA on visiting visa but left their Insulin medicines in our home. rahul412
Don't you think shipping the medicines is the fastest way? Quote Link to comment
JoeF
That may be illegal. A bunch of medicines that are legal abroad may not be approved by the FDA for the US. Getting non-approved medicine into the US probably violates a bunch of rules. They may have to go to a doctor here and get a prescription. Quote Link to comment
jairichi
One can send medicines by post/courier with proper prescription along with authorization letter from concerned drug regulatory authority of that country. The declaration has to be clear. Quote Link to comment
Dogfish
I should have informed you earlier before I subscribe to your suggestions. After few investigations, I came to know that we can't send any medicines to USA through courier (FedEx, USP and Speed Post). In fact, private players are willing to accept tablets in small quantity but not Insulin liquid bottles as per US regulatory norms. Finally, I came to know that It is only possible to send any medicines to USA in less quantity through our well wishers with prescription. So, my only hope is to request sincerely to send the medicines from well wishers who are immediately travelling to USA from India. Hope, someone will take the initiative to safely do the needful. Thank you. Dogfish Quote Link to comment
pontevecchio
Do you mean Insulin or oral antidiabetics? It might surprise you to know they can buy their medicine here with a prescription for a very reasonable price and it is even possible the source is from India. Quote Link to comment
JoeF
Well, if you are ok with the packages being interjected by CBP. They prevent mails from Canadian online pharmacies all the time. Medicines that are not approved in the US can not be sent here. Quote Link to comment
JoeF
That some "private players" are willing to transport some pills doesn't matter much. It would still be drug smuggling... Amazing that you advocate drug smuggling. Quote Link to comment

Dogfish
You guys are throwing different opinions with whatever knowledge you have. I appreciate it but, Given the situation, What will you guys do in my case, when your parents left to USA for 3 months forgetting their medicines worth 4000₹ Which is 10 times the cost in USA (verified)? I hope everyone will agree with me in finding the trusted person to carry the medicines of 200gms with a prescription. All I want is a Samaritan who will carry and then post locally. JoeF
They would have to see a doctor here in the US and get the prescription filled here. Sorry, but that's the only option, other than flying back to their home country. And a "Samaritan" would be smuggling drugs, which no sane person would do. Quote Link to comment

I know for a fact that one can send medicines by speed post provided there is a prescription and there is a letter from drug control authority. This is first hand information my parents obtained from a family friend who works in a high rank position in postoffice. And, as JoeF pointed out it should be legal to be used in US. Very tough to find a trusted person to carry any package abroad. It would have to be your friends, colleagues or relatives. Quote Link to comment

Given the situation, they need immediate access to insulin. Getting a rx for insulin in the US is going to be cheaper than ending in the ER. Ask them to get a rx from a US doctor. Insulin cannot be posted locally either, unless its authorized. Quote Link to comment
Paramjit Singh
If you send the medicine via parcel, it might get stuck in the customs if you do not attach a prescription with it. Last month I found a shipping company and they shipped medicine for my brother along with doctor's prescription. They will charge you pennies. You may contact them on whatsapp (+14053586858). I hope this helped you. Quote Link to comment

datadriven
I used Help Rx to get medicines from India for my father in law. They will tell you if you can or cannot get it and what is needed. It is operated by a local pharmacy store in India. Quote Link to comment
