Jyt
I am on F1 visa and 17 month STEM OPT extention. If nothing happens in favour of STEM extention by Feb 12 2016, I am planning to apply for H4 and EAD(My husband's I-140 is approved). Could anyone advise me on the timeframe of when to start these processes so I could minimise the time I would be out of work? Also what would be the fastest way to obtain H4 visa and H4-EAD? Should I apply for Change od status to H4 and EAD concurrently while I am in US or should I travel back to India to get H4 and then apply for EAD? Which of these options would be fasterand less troublesome? Thank you. Link to comment
jairichi
Exit & enter US with H4 visa. This is quicker than applying for COS. Once you enter on H4 apply for EAD. 90 days for approval. Link to comment
rahul412
Fastest way to H4 is to attend visa interview. Link to comment
giri26
The COS takes 3 months and the EAD will only be process after your H4 is approved. So the timeline can be anywhere between 3 months to 6 months. The best bet is to leave the country and come back with H4 visa stamped and applying for EAD once you get back. That is the easiest and fastest way. Link to comment
