Less than 6 months in passport, need to travel to india on h1b.

Hello,

 

I need to travel to India in couple of weeks and my passport is expiring by Feb 2016. The H1b stamped visa in my passport which i got last year Nov from India has expired on Apr 2015 and i have got my extension until 2018.

 

I have the below questions on passport expiration / travel plans:

 

1. Does my passport need to be of 6 months validity for my travel to India from US.

 

2. Since my end client and employer are the same now as per the previously stamped visa, i'm eligible for drop box; however would there be any issue for providing my visa on my current passport which will have only 4 months when i travel back to the US ?

 

Please advise.

Minimum 6 months passport validity is required. It is clearly mentioned in US consulate website. No exceptions.
