CP Interview Date question

Hello, I am a citizen of India and applied for green card via Consular Processing under the EB3 category. My priority date is Sept 2004. PD became current according to last months visa bulletin. Its been a month and I still have not received an interview appointment letter. How long is the wait typically so I can be ready for it? Is it ok to contact the National Visa Center and inquire about the interview status? Thanks for your responses.

You should call the NVC and they will give you an invoice number for your case number.

Then with your case number and invoice number you should try to follow the process as outlined in nvc.state.gov.

If it doesn't allow you to download the form for nominating an agent, then it means that your case has not been activated.

Then check with NVC again as to when the case will be activated. Thanks.

I called NVC several times and keep getting "Because of the large volume of calls we are recieving all our our customer server representatives are busy helping other customers." The system doesn't even allow to wait in line for the next available representative. Its really frustrating! I used the immigrant visa inquiry phone number (603) 334-0700) from this site. http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/contact.html

Even wrote to them using the Public Inquiry Form a month ago and no response.

I have called NVC countless times and waited atleast 20 minutes each time to get through. That's the only way.

When you call and hear busy message, hang up and call again. Keep doing this till you get the other message asking you to wait for agent.  After 15 - 20 minutes (average) or so, agent will come.

Email NVCInquiry@state.gov and AskNVC@state.gov with below information and ask what you need :

Case Number:

Petitioner's Name:
Principal Applicant's Name

Principal applicant's Date of birth
