I-94 Expiring soon, I797 valid till later

Based on my last H1-B visa stamping, my visa and I-94 are until Nov 2015. My employer filed my extension and my new i797 is until Aug 2017.

 

• Do I have to get my I-94 updated before Nov or can I stay with an expired I-94 but valid I-797?
• How do I get my I-94 updated? Do I have to go out of the country or can I do it at the CBP based on my I-797?

1. If your new I797 has a new I94 valid date then you are fine till that date.

2. Exit and enter US with a valid visa and I797.
