Mahika.mehta
Hi My husband is working in the U.S. on an H1B, and I'll be applying for my H4 spouse visa. The application asks for a petition number. Q1. Is that supposed to come from my husband? He has a petition number based on his H1B. I was in USA two years ago on a J1 student intern visitor visa for training. Q2. Is there a J1 requirement for H4 in terms of maintaining a foreign status for 2 years? Thanks Mahika Link to comment
jairichi
Q1. Yes. Q2. First check whether you are subject to 2 years HRR based on J1. If the answer is yes then either you fulfill the requirement or get a waiver to go for H4 visa stamping. If the answer is no then you are fine. Link to comment
pontevecchio
1. Yes. 2.Not for the H4 visa. But the 2 year HRR if applicable remains in force from the time you left after J1. Link to comment
