Hi there friends, I got admission in Sofia University, Palo Alto, CA.

A lot of friends are discouraging me by telling that I will never get any OPT after receiving an MS Computer Science degree from them because they have a very new CS department and do not carry enough reputation.

Could you please let me know if there in any truth in such statement?

The university got permission for MS CS in August 2014.

Have you asked your university DSO about OPT??

One more thing, degree from this university cannot be used for immigration benefits.

New department or not doesn't matter for OPT.

They seem to be a rather unusual institution, though (they appear to me somewhat of a leftover from the 60ies hippie culture..,) and you may find it hard to actually get a job when you do OPT.

That institution is a for-profit university.

That means a Masters degree from them can not be used for the H1 Advanced Degree quota. Only degrees from accredited, public or non-profit private universities can be used.
