Stamping for B1 while H1B petition is approved

Hi.

 

I am currently working with company xxx and have a new employment offer from yyy. Company yyy has processed my H1b and has been approved and I was planning to go for visa stamping in next 1-2 months. But now my current employer xxx wants me to complete a knowledge transfer and is processing my B1.

 

Now the question

 

1. Can I apply for b1 for my current employer when I hold h1b approved for different employer. 

2. I'm i going to violate any rules which might have serious consequences
3. Is there any chance of rejection to H1b later

Any information on the above is highly appreciated as currently I am in a very confused state. Thanks in advance for your help.
