Visit on B2 Tourist Visa for Parents & In-Laws

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am working in an IT firm and living in bay area CA for last three years. We are expecting to have a baby soon, so i wanted both my parents and In-laws to travel together on B2 Tourist visa. Their B2 Visa is sponsored by me. I am looking for if there are possibility to do that. and What is the risk on that.

First, there is no sponsoring for visitor visas. You can pay their expenses, but that's not sponsoring.

Second, even if you may not be aware of it, this looks a lot like parents and in-laws may be going to help in the household. Be aware that that isn't allowed. The officers may suspect that the reason for the visits is helping in the household during and after the child's delivery, and may deny visas because of that.

There is no sponsorship for visiting visa, you can bear their expenses at most. During the interview they have to convince vo that they will come back after the trip. You got nothing to do here, let them apply by themselves.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, i meant of sponsorship was that I have applied for them or say I`m inviting them here, having said that Yes I`m going to bear all their expenses. they have got the their Visas, however I was wondering if both my In-laws and parents can travel together here. will there not be any problem on arrival?

Hi,

My mother is coming on B2 visa, for three months, I`ve booked one way ticket for her, but her Going back ticket is still not booked. One of travel agent told me if somebody is entering in US on visiting/B2 Visa, she/he should be having To-Fro tickets/dates. I have booked only 'To' ticket but not 'Fro'. I wanted to know if it will create any problem while immigration counter on her arrival? that she is having only one way ticket....

Can you please help and suggest.

Yes, it might be an issue. She needs to have her return ticket too otherwise there is a chance of denied entry at POE. When the duration of stay is confirmed why are you hesitating to book return ticket?

Yes, visitor should have return ticket at POE. If not what is the guarantee that she will leave US after the visit?

Thanks for reply.

The reason i have not booked her fro ticket, coz not sure about dates. as she has to go alone, looking if somebody can be accompanied with her, based on i was planing to book tickets later. but if it is not possible, have to book ticket for any date.

Put an ad in relevant websites for travel companion and you will be able to find one for your mom. Also, make use of wheelchair assistance for her in case there is no one to accompany her.

Return ticket is mandatory, you can change the itinerary later if she is not comfortable traveling alone.
