FMLA during citizenship application

Hi, I am about to drop my citizenship application in the mail. (Been married to US citizen for 4+ years and meet all other eligibility requirements). However, it turns out that I will need to take family-medical leave of absence for about 2 to 3 months starting next month. During this time, I will continue employment with a US firm and also maintain residence/household here in the US.

Is it ok (within rules) for me to travel outside while the application is in progress?  Or is it better to start the application process upon my return?

Thanks much!

You can travel abroad as long as you continue to fulfill the physical presence requirement.

However, USCIS schedules biometrics and interview on pretty short notice, so make sure there is somebody at home who can open mail addressed to you and be prepared to change travel plans on short notice.

Being employed or not or on leave or not has no bearing on the application.
