Travelling while change of status from H4 to F1 IS IN PROGRESS

Hi folks, I have one quick question. Currently My wife is on H4 and it is valid till 2017. I have filed for change of status from H4 to F1 few months back as she is pursung her masters.

 

Here application status is still in progress. However due to some emergency ,she had to travel back to India last week.She is planning to come back to US next week. My question is

 

Can she come back next week on Valid H4 visa even though the change of status from H4 to F1 is approved ?

 

or

 

Can she come back next week on Valid H4 visa even though the change of status from H4 to F1 is still in progress ?

 

Please suggest..

She can come back on H4, but her COS will be voided since she left US. Better to get F1 visa from India.

Thanks Rahul. I am not bothered about her COS.  She wont be facing any problem with US immigration right.
