Does 3 year undergrad degree qualify for Masters in USA?

Hello experts,

I would like to know if a B.Sc / B.A / BBA (Any 3 year degree) completed individual in India be eligible for doing M.A / MBA in United States? I've heard in the past that an individual would require a four-year degree (apart from the respective exams like GMAT, GRE, TOEFL etc) in order to apply for any Masters degree in US.

Please clarify and also post the possible chances for such individuals.

Thanks!

Sorry for checking back very lately.

You need a 4 years under graduate degree to do Master's in US.

Thank you for the reply.

Yes, most of the schools do not accept 3yr degree.

What if the schools accept a 3 year degree? Would those universities be considered shady universities? The reason for asking is, there are lot of big private (or I should say 100 years old), non-profit universities that are accepting a 3 year degree. Please clarify. Thanks.

In such situations, universities usually require taking additional classes.

Could you please be more specific? Are you talking about taking pre-requisites?

you need 4 yr degree. alternative is atleast 1 yr of M.Sc/ M.A / MBA

Thank you but that doesn't make sense right.

I rather doubt that top private universities like Harvard, Yale, or Stanford would accept a 3-year degree.

As for what classes universities would require, yes, that's basically prereqs. The university admissions people would tell you.

Thanks Rahul. This clarifies my doubt a little bit. But, I did hear that one would need a 4-year degree to attend an F-1 visa interview. Would it be true?

Well I didn't talk about top private universities but just private universities that are some 100 years old :-)

Thank you for the reply.

Most universties require 4 yrs of post high school education ( 12+ 4) for admission to graduate school.  I know people who have satisfied this requirement by  doing ( 12+3+1) high school + 3 yr degree + 1 yr post graduate work.

I believe this is in the case of a Technical degree. I doubt this would apply for degrees like MBA. The reason I say it is because, I've seen universities which accept a 3 year BBA degree to do an MBA. But, I just wanted to make sure with the experts here that we are not choosing a shady university which would kill the US career.

Pretty much the only private universities that are 100 years old are the top private universities, like Harvard, Yale, Stanford, etc.
