Changing job title after I -140 approval

I have been working as a full time employee with my current company for the past 6 years.

My employer filed my GC application and I have an approved I-140 with a priority date of March 2012. My current title is "Engineer"

 

There is another job posting in my company in a different team - if I were to take up this new position the title would be "Systems Trainer". The qualifications required are similar but the title is very different and does not reflect the electrical engineering background required.

 

I asked HR if it was OK for me to apply to this new position and their reply - 

 

Hi ,

I spoke to our immigration attorney and her suggestion is to have you apply for the position and when we get to your 485 form we’ll make adjustments if you get the job.

What kind of changes does something like this entail?

If the qualifications required for the job are similar  then job title does not matter.
