I 94 date not matching with i797 petition

I would like to share my experience on this.

 

I used my old employer H1B VISA to enter USA after a short vacation to India. VISA is valid till May 2015. I showed my new employer i797 petition which is valid till Oct 2015 at POE but i got i 94 only till May 2015

 

After searching various forums i found that this can be corrected by deferred inspection in any international airport. I went to Denver international airport with my passport and new i797 petition and called them from the phone available just outside international arrivals in main terminal. Officer showed up in 2 minutes and i explained him about the issue in i 94 date. He took my passport and petition inside and within 5 minutes he came out and said my i 94 date is corrected
