Perm Labor Certification and Layoffs

Hi All, I would need your advise in the following situation:

I am currently having my green card filed and have submitted the LC questionnaire to begin initiating the process. My employer has also send documentation to process PERM case. The challenge I am now faced with though is the fact there was a layoff 3 months ago and I understand that could jeorpadize my application. Do I suggest to the lawyer to temporarily suspend my application until at least after 6 months from the time of layoff has passed? What are my options if my application gets denied as a result of the layoff; does the process start all over again? I am new to this and any advise here would be much appreciated
