MurthyIndia_Lawyer
While extending an invitation to a family friend or relative is fine, it is important to know the actual intent of the visiting person to avoid future complications. If one knows the person being invited well enough, s/he can extend an invitation. It may also be noted that in many instances, the visa officers rely on information presented on the visa application form and what is stated at the interview to make a decision on the application. The person extending the invitation generally provides supporting documents to evidence his/her legal and financial status in the U.S. Link to comment

jairichi
Thanks for your clarification. If visa interview person asked about his stay in US with proof, please let me know answer for this question. I just missed the part that you are planning to host. In that case an invitation letter would be enough. It would be better for him to book a hotel for his stay at the time of visa interview. In this way there is no need for anything from you. After getting his visitor visa he can cancel his hotel reservation and then stay with you during his travel to US. Link to comment
