hasselblad
Hi, I am a physician-in-training currently on a J1 visa sponsored by the ECFMG (Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates). I am also a 'semi-pro' photographer, and have frequently done projects for close friends and family (mostly for free). Of late, I have been getting offers to cover small events from individuals who want to hire me professionally (for a fee of course). I would like to take up these offers, register and advertise my photography company. I wanted to make sure if there were any J1 visa restrictions preventing me from doing so. I am aware that with a J1 visa you can only have 1 employer, but my question is can I self-employ myself while already employed and sponsored by the ECFMG. Thanks, your help and time is much appreciated. Link to comment
JoeF
On J1, you can NOT be self-employed. Link to comment
