Hmm, if you don't have a valid I-94, you are illegal. You are required by law to have a valid I-94 with you at all times. Link to comment

I am legal and I have valid i-797, i-94 till 2015 You are fine traveling to the US Virgin Islands. Just make sure that you don't go to the British Virgin Islands, which are nearby. Going there would mean you'd leave the US, and then you would need a visa to come back. Link to comment
