popy
I am currently on H4 in US and applied for H1 this year. It got approved. If I want to switch the company and transfer the H1 to that company, can I do it before October without any paystubs? Is it possible to transfer the H1 after October 1st even if I don't start working by then? Link to comment
itsmeusa
Yep. But need to file transfer sooner - say within 1st week of Oct. If delayed like a month or so, USCIS may ask paystub. Link to comment

andiamo
On the same note, for petitions approved through Consular processing, is it mandatory to be on H-1 status for initiating a transfer from one employer to another. Have read about people doing it while outside the country. If currently maintaining H-4 status, does status automatically move to H-1 (petition not filed as COS) How would it pan out if a transfer petition with a COS from H-4 to H-1 is filed together.
