helpme213
Hi, I am an Indian living in the US on J-1 visa since 2010. I visited Vancouver, Canada in 2012 for an international conference and got my visa renewed there. Now I am going to Mexico for another conference. Can I get my visa renewed in Mexico? The website says that in order to renew the visa in Mexico, one of the conditions is that the previous visa should have been issued by the home country. In my case, since my previous visa was renewed in Canada, do you think I will get into trouble? Please advice. Although I attended the visa interview in Canada, my I-94 is still the one that was issued in 2010. Link to comment

helpme213
Can I try to go to Canada? Their website doesn't have any such specifications. Thanks in advance. Link to comment

F1struggle
If i remember correctly, Mexico implemented this rule recently. Canada allows TCNs but availability is limited. You need to start looking for appointments right now in order to find something by November end or even early December. Link to comment
helpme213
I heard that there is a 30 day rule where-in if you return to US within 30 days you do not have to renew your visa. You can be allowed re-entry simply on the basis of DS-2019. It that information correct? Link to comment
