Name change any additional process and Time ?

Hello,

 

We applied for my wife last name change in N400 and we are waiting for interview and would like to know any additional process and additional time will be talking for Name change in San Jose ( Santa clara, CA) center ..please advise.

In some jurisdictions, they do administrative oaths without name changes more quickly, within a few days or even the same day.

With name changes, that always requires some time to prepare, and the oath ceremony has to be a full one doubling as a court (only a court can do name changes.)

My understanding is that USCIS only does administrative oath ceremonies in the Bay Area. If that's still the case, it would mean that name changes are not possible there as part of the N-400.

The officer at the interview should inform you appropriately.
