NORI to H1B application

HI,

My J1 visa is ending on Dec end, 2014. I have applied for NORI and got one from MHRD. I expect to get the other two by the end of May. In that case I should get the J1-waiver approval from USCIS by August. I'm wondering should I ask my employer for fast track H1B visa processing to opt. In case if I do not get the H1B visa in time, how will it be handled in that situation? Would I have to go back and do the visa interview back in India?

Hi t75,

I'm a University employee, so I think its cap-exempt. I'm concerned if I get the final J1-waiver at the end of July, is it going to be a problem for me to get H1B in time- by Dec end. If in case I did not get the H1B by that time, what is the procedure one should follow in that circumstances...

Hi Stpr,

I am an MD (not a practicing doctor). I finished my 5 years of research postdoctoral fellowship in Jan 2014. Currently I'm working as LRSA(Univ employee). I have my J1(DS2019) till the end of September 2014 tho I have a visa till Feb 2015 (They gave me J1 visa for 5years)

I sent my NORI applications to all the three dapartments in May 2013 without a covering letter(didn't know about it). I didn't hear back from them. The state department returned me my application stating that I need to include a covering letter. Thats when I realised I screwed up.

I resent the documents to all the three departments in Feb 2014 including a covering letter. Got clearance certificates from the state department and passport office. After my poor patents had to go thru hell. Still no news from MHRD.

I tried calling the MHRD and they are saying that they have not received my application as they cannot locate it on the data base. I am not sure why it had not reached them or they are too bored to look into it.

I am very confused of what to do next. If you have any suggestions of how to speed up the process, who to contact, it would be great help.

Do you suggest me to resend my application to MHRD?

On the embassy(Atlanta) website, they are saying that as of March 05 2014, the Health Ministry is not issuing NORI to doctors.

Anyone with any kind of suggestions please email me at ************@gmail.com.

Thank you all in advance

BP

Send it to a friend/relative who can go in person and submit to MHRD.
