pvt1976
Hi, I have the following questions My GC expires on Sep 2014 and I plan to travel to India in Aug for 3 weeks. Is it advisable to apply after my return in Aug. What will happen if the GC expires when the Citizenship is still under process. I have a 2 point traffic ticket (moving violation for crossing the yellow line) . Will that be an issue for the application? Thanks in advance. Link to comment
JoeF
The GC does not expire. Only the actual card expires. You continue to be a Permanent Resident. You would need to file an I-90 for a new card. You have to list moving violations on the N-400. Your tickets are unlikely to cause a problem. They are looking more for DUIs and reckless driving and the like. Link to comment

If I apply for Citizenship in August, do you think should I still apply for new GC card that expires in Sept? Or I can apply for Citizenship now, but my concern was the travel abroad planned during end of July-Aug timeframe. What will be the best approach you suggest, apply right way or apply after coming back from travel. ? Link to comment
