hvisaemails
GAP in I797 and I-94 periods. I got my H1B through employer A , my I797A and I94 was valid till Nov-30-2013. On Oct-10-2013 before h1b /i94 expiry, i applied for H1B transfer through employer B. Which got approved and got my approval notice today. I noticed there is a gap between new I-94/I797A date and the old i94. In the new I94, the date is mentioned as valid from March-03-2014 to Sep-30-2015. There is a gap from Dec-01-2013 to March-02-2014 ? Is that means, out of status or illegal stay. Whether i need to correct those details. Also, I started working for the new employer from Oct-20-2013. Want to know,1. Due to these gaps in I-94 date, is it means illegal stay ?2. Let me know whether i need to correct these details and if so, what are things i need to do. Link to comment

That is the reason for the gap. Nothing to worry as what you have done is legal. Link to comment
pontevecchio
That is not the reason for the gap. It is a function of the software used by USCIS. The mere fact that a new I94 Link to comment
pontevecchio
This site gets more difficult to negotiate. Anyway I was typing that the software does not allow back dating and that mere issuance of the I94 is ipso facto proof of legal status. Link to comment
