Travel on H4 when priority date current

Hello, My husband (H1B holder) is expecting his Priority Date to become current in June 2014. I am planning to travel back from India to the US in mid-late June on my H4 visa while he is still in the US. If we file our I-485s together while I am still in India, will this pose a risk? I am planning to get my medical records and paperwork in place prior to my overseas travel. How early can we expect to hear from USCIS or DHS about the next steps (biometrics?) once we file the paperwork and will this affect my H4 status? Thanks!

You cannot file the I-485 if you are abroad at the time of filing. PD's are very fickle.
