L1 B to H4 EAD Conversion

Hi,

Currently i am holding valid L1 B and it would max out by Oct 28th 2017. My wife is on H1 B and got I140 approved. So iam planning to convert my L1 B to H4.

1) Can i apply EAD once I receive case id for H4 application

2) Once my L1 status gets converted to H4 can i stay in USA on unpaid leave till i get EAD.

Appreciate your responses. It would help me a lot.
