Can I apply H4 when I have valid stamped H1 visa ?

Hi,

i have a valid H1 stamped in Jan 2017 in India and currently I am in India waiting for US assignment. My wife is on H1 working in Us and my 4.5 years kid on h4 with my wife in Chicago.  I wanted to go to US on short term to help my wife and kid to vacate to California. Is it possible to go on H4 for a month or two??  Or any other better options available?? Please let me know.

Once i apply and go in H4 for a month or two, will my H1 stand cancelled? If yes then can i apply my H1 back after the H4 short term visit ( have the Oct 2016 petition)?

 

or is there any other better way ? Please suggest.

H1 doesn't get cancelled automatically. You can come back and then go on h1
