Request for initial evidence (I - 485) - Insufficient Finances

Hi All,
My wife applied for Greencard for her parents. In the affidavit of support (864) form, PART 5, Sponcers household size, she showed the 1 for herself, 1 for me, 2 for kids, and total as 6. Income showed as 108K. Total income shown on tax returns showed as 3xx,xxx for last 3 years since it incomes my income too (But, I am not the sponsor).

Received Request for Initial evidence (I - 485)...
1) support all supporting tax documentation (W2s, 1099s) submitted to IRS for the most recent tax year.
2) Based on the documents submitted with Form I-864 for the petitioner/sponcer, the income did not meet 125% of the poverty guideline for the petitioners household size..

Based on the Federal Poverty guidelines for 2017, for 6 people, the wage is 33K. What am I missing here?

Also, there is an option to obtain joint sponsor. Can I be joint sponsor, given that I am not blood related to my in laws? or do I need to add my wife's sister as sponsor?

You can be an additional sponsor by filing I-864A.
