Possibility of observership when on J1 research

Hello everyone

It would be helpful if someone could offer thoughts on this-

I will be on a J1 research scholar status and will be self funding myself during this period. I would like to know if its permitted to do an observership at a different hospital ( not related to my sponsor program) when on J1. I will not be paid during the observership and also wont get academic credits, it is only to help me when I apply for residency match in the future.

If the Program Director involved has no concerns and lets you observe, it should not be a problem.
