razprksh@gmail.com
Hi all, I came to US in July-2016 on F-2 dependent visa. I got admission to a graduate school and my classes start on August-23, 2017. Since the change-of-status from F-2 to F-1 visa takes around 3 months, could anyone kindly suggest if going to Mexico/Canada would be a better choice?. Since a trip to India would incur expenses, I wanted to consider this option. I am not too sure if it is safe but. Also, my husband has got his H1 picked in lottery and is waiting for his approval notice. Can he travel before OCtober-1 without affecting his status? Link to comment
pontevecchio
If your Degrees are from India it would be better to get the F1 visa from India. If you have got admission to a known reputable college, there should be no problem. Once your husbands H1 petition is approved with a COS from October,1 he can travel and return in F1 status.
