Change of Status Query

I am on a L1 visa. I met my spouse in USA who was on B2 visa and we got married in March 2017 in US. We have filed for I-539 Change of Status from B2 to L2 in April 2017 (i-94 of B2 expired on 30th April 2017).  The COS application was applied based on my current visa which is till June 2017.

My firm has now applied for an extension of my L1 visa this week, still waiting for the receipt number.

Want help to understand if my spouse can file another I-539 application for extension of  stay based on my L1 petition referencing the extension receipt number. Or do we just need to wait and see if the L2 is approved (as L2 COS we have given a date valid till June 2017).
