Canada Post Graduation Work Permit after 1 year Diploma

If I complete 1 year certificate or diploma program at a Canadian school, then I will be eligible for 1 year Post Graduation work permit. My question is regarding this work permit.

Lets say the 1 year work permit begins on 1st January 2019. I get a job on June 1st 2019 and begin working from June 9th 2019. How long can I work? Can I only work until January 1st 2020 (because work permit is 1 year from Jan 1st 2019) or after getting the work permit I can work indefinitely?
