H4 EAD and Short term disability

Hi

 

Recently I had a fracture and I cannot go to work for at least a month or two. Pls  advise if I an apply for short term disability or any other benefits.So far its been almost 2 weeks and wasn't sure how to proceed.

My employer when asked couldn't provide any info as he is not aware of it.

You can check with your insurance company.

Short term disability (STD) is an employee benefit provided by your employer and you should be contributing 2-3$ per pay check to get that benefit. its not by default or govt benefit. logon to your hr site and check for your benefits. STD is generally administered by third party like metlife etc. you have to talk to them directly.
