F-1 to H-1B COS

Hello,

I'm a full time student and completed master's in April 2017. I have applied H1B this year and in general quota, it got selected.

I went to university to apply initial OPT and DSO said that you have CAP GAP OPT I-20 till September 30th 2017.

I'm very confused, whether i can apply initial OPT or not. If i'm applying OPT will it be a problem.

Kindly please suggest me with right options.

Go with what your DSO says. Since your H-1 got selected may be they can only issue cap-gap I-20.
